San Luis Obispo Police Department Surveillance Cameras

SLOPD currently has 16 or so “pod” cameras, such as those found HERE, which they rotate through various locations. Currently, the majority of these cameras are positioned in and around the downtown area, but there are other locations such as the skate park, Sinsheimer, and the Amtrak station. Officers can access the footage from their vehicles, and the footage is maintained for approximately three weeks. More information about SLO City’s policies regarding PD cameras can be found HERE (search Policy 377).

To use the map above ^ click on the blue star icons representing the cameras. A column will expand on the left side of your screen with the date the camera was placed in that location, as well as photos of the camera in question (LOCATED UNDER THE DATE).

There should be several photos of the cameras, so use the right/left arrow icons to navigate the photo carousel. This will give you some perspective of what the cameras may have captured. Keep in mind, these camera “pods” include up to four lenses in each mount, any one or all of which can be down at any given time and not capture what you’re looking for. Records we compiled show they routinely go down for maintenance.
